COMPANY FOOTBALL MATCH 08/09/17
The annual inter-company football match was held on Friday 8th September and the Red team took on the Blue team. Unfortunately numbers were depleted as some key players were on running duties at the Great North Run over the weekend but we had more than enough players. The Blues started with a well taken goal but this was followed by a hat trick from George Thompson for the Reds and at half time the Reds were 3-1 ahead. Well the old saying that it is a game of two halves was well proven as the Blues came out in the second half with renewed endeavour and quickly drew level. The Reds were definitely flagging and fell apart letting in another 7 goals before being saved by the final whistle. Final score Reds 3 Blues 10.
Goal scorers for the Blues were Anthony Mullaney (2) Tom McDougall (1) Andy Monk (2) Damian Guziak (1) Nick Cressey (4).
Notable performances from both goal keepers, Dave Cotton for the Reds and Geordie for the Blues, who also carried on despite a broken finger.
Man of the Match; Nick Cressey was awarded by Keith Anderson.
The trophy was hoist into the air by Blue’s captain Craig Monk also awarded by Keith Anderson.
A big thank you to Mark Cowgill for organising everything, Mark Stapleton for cooking the sausages, Keith McKee for refereeing, both Keith Andersons and everyone who supported the event.
Have we any customers who would like to take us on??
